My Music Journey
About Yijia
As a cross-genre singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter based in London, I am deeply passionate about weaving the threads of traditional and modern music. My journey began as a finalist on a Chinese music show, where I was honoured to win the CMA Chinese Music Award. Since then, my music has taken me to some of the world's most iconic stages, including the Royal Albert Hall, WOMAD Festival, and O2 Kentish Town.
I've had the privilege of being interviewed by the BBC World Service and BBC Radio 3, sharing my story and my passion for blending traditional cultures with contemporary music. My academic journey includes studying music at SOAS and the University of Oxford, and I am proud to hold a 'Global Talent' endorsement from the Arts Council UK.
Recently, I delivered a TEDx Talk at TEDxBrighton, where I explored my musical journey and how I use traditional music cultures to build bridges between communities. Through my work, I aim to transcend time and space — taking audiences on a multi-dimensional experience that connects the past, present, and future.
